The patch of trees was relatively quiet. And to the untrained eye, or one far away enough, nothing was amiss. Though to anyone who dared venture into the foliage would see a large tanklike object with a drab, olive green tarp thrown over it. From under the tarp, a song played on a flute could barely be heard. Well, a scratchy recording of one at least.
Things had been tough for Sgt. Gutsy. After his run in with Luger and the subsequent stand-off with Starscream, he no longer found himself compelled to fight under the Decepticon banner. But at the same time, what Autobot would trust him? He still had a faint Decepticon symbol emblazoned on his chest, which was more or less a bullseye painted for an Autobot. He had two choices at this point. Go rogue, or show himself to NEST and declare his choice to change sides and hope for the best.
However, that was a decision he'd have to sleep on.

Cira was out for a jog, playing techno industrial music, with one ear bud hanging out of her ear so she could remain alert to her surroundings. A lot more Autobots were showing themselves of late and since she often avoided using her vehicle, Cira had to stay alert and always brought some kind of weapon with her. Cira currently wore black jeans, black sneakers, a thick, black and silver belt which looked like it had bullets all across it (though they were fake). However this belt was blocked by a large camo hoody that she found after she went shopping with Alex. Being a military brat, Cira really fancied camouflage clothing...well, of the types she preferred anyway. Tucked on either side of her waist were two .45 caliber revolvers (not the guns in her pictures) in black holsters. The hoody did a semi-decent job in attempt to cover up the bulkiness, though not 100 percent. reference pic: Cira began to hear a faint song primarily involving a flute playing to her right, carried by the gentle breeze that occurred now and then. At first she thought it was from her music, but she immediately realized she was hearing it from both ears. Frowning, Cira vaulted over a large rock and changed course, deciding to check out the song's location. She honed in on a cluster of trees and saw a funny object up ahead. Was that a tank covered by a tarp? She saw its patchy figure hidden in the brush. Indeed, the music was playing from inside/near the tank. The sound quality wasn't the best, but oh well. "Hello?" Cira asked announcing her presence as she tightened the pony tail holding up her dark brown hair. She did a walk-around the tank, randomly kicking at the front left tred, Cira waited for an answer. She then walked to the other side and kicked it against the metal. "Knock knock!"

The tank didn't stir at first when she simply announced her presence. Only the recording of "Yankee Doodle" continued to play from under the tarp. The first kick elicited no response as well, though the second kick was greeted by the abrupt stop of the music playing from the tarp. Looks like she finally got his attention.
"Huh? Who is it? Better not be one of those damn traitor Decepticons or I'll give him a personal message from Uncle Sam!" he said as he began to quickly transform into his robot mode. Once transformed, he looked around, disoriented by the fact that the tarp had still clung to his head. Sgt. Gutsy reached up to peel the tarp off and look around. No Decepticon or Autobot had come woken him up. Come to think of it, the impact was too light to be from one of them, which made him look down at Cira.
He wasn't entirely sure what to do now that he had more or less revealed himself to a human. Other than hope that she knew Transformers and wouldn't run off screaming, which would make him have to find a new place to take stasis naps. He'd wait for her to speak first, mostly to judge her reaction to him.

Cira stared up at Sgt Gutsy as he transformed. She didn't know whether or not he was a Decepticon but that didn't matter at this point. "Uncle Sam is busy, you'll have to take a message with me." she said a bit sarcastically, only joking. She stared up at the transformer in slight awe and slight fear, hoping he wasn't a Decepticon. Cira never got over their graceful ability to transform at whim. "I'm Cira Knight, was out on one of my routine Parkour routes when I heard music. So um...who are you? Don't think I've seen you before..."

She wasn't running and screaming like a banshee. Looks like a good start so far. She even went as far as to introduce herself. From that, Gutsy could guess that she had run into his kind before. "The name's Sgt. Gutsy, ma'am." he said. "You probably haven't seen me because most people probably wouldn't take kindly to a tank plodding down their streets, seeing as they don't have military parades anymore." he added. The only thing that would hint at him being classified as a Decepticon would probably be the barely visible symbol painted on his chest and his red optics. However, he no longer would call himself a Decepticon.
(I apologize for the short. The muse isn't as lively as it usually is :{ )

"I see. Well that makes sense. So what are you doing out here? Just chilling?" Cira asked. She looked around for a tree to climb up. Running up the trunk, she grabbed onto the nearest possible branch some 8 feet up. She pulled herself up and then carefully turned around to another branch that faced Sgt Gutsy more directly. She grabbed onto a branch above it and stepped over to it before sitting down, looking back at him. Cira still had to look up a bit (unless he's one of the smaller transformers, I don't really know), but it was better than constantly craning her kneck on the ground since she had the option to fix that.
(tis ok mine's kind of short too)

"In all honesty, I was getting myself a little R&R." said Sgt. Gutsy. "I'd ask what you're doing, but it's more than obvious that you're out getting some exercise. Something you're good at." he added. He looked down still, but not as much since she had scaled the tree. At this point, he figured she didn't know that he had previously considered himself a Decepticon, or she had heard about the Luger incident. However, he would still need someone to vouch for him wanting to switch sides if that were an option.
"You know, most people tend to flee in terror when they see me." he said. "So I'm willing to guess that you've already run into one of us before."

"Ehe, uh thanks. Yeah, a quite a few here and there." Cira replied, scratching her right cheek. She watched him closely. As she did, she thought she saw the emblems of the bot symbols on his upper body. It was faded, and was fairly hard to tell the difference between an Autobot or Decepticon. It seemed a bit more...angled...and she didn't see the lines that looked a bit like tears as they did on an Autobot's emblem. Cira's heart leaped for a second, but she showed little signs of alertness. Her bearing decent, the only thing she did was squint at him briefly.
"I used to be partners with one, too...well, before he became a Decepticon, anyway." Cira shrugged. The bot would probably conclude she was a member of NEST. Cira was uncertain of giving Sgt.Gutsy any details about her position...he could be one of the many 'Cons who might dare try to infiltrate and conquer one of the few bases they have...or something. She sighed mentally, trying to set that fear aside.
But of course the thought came back. May as well cut it to the chase and see how he responded. "You seem a bit...ruffled. What's with the faded symbol?"

"Good to hear. That means I won't have to worry about explaining anything then." he said. His optics narrowed slightly, an attempt at an expression of disappointment when he heard that her companion had gone Decepticon. He had never heard of such a thing, that is Transformers and Humans having personalized partnerships, as opposed to just being two armies that happened to work together. However, she didn't afford him much time to ponder as she brought up his symbol.
"This? Never got around to getting it repainted." said Gutsy. "Good thing that it's all faded now. It's less to scrub off when I get the chance to paint a new one on." he added with a sigh.

"I see." It appeared that it was possible the bot was facing a turning point in his life. "Are you a Decepticon?" she asked, figuring he was by his optics and some of the angles she saw in the faded symbol. "Seeing how you haven't attacked, you're either playing a long for certain amount of time, or you're debating." Cira deemed it possible he might be neutral, or debating about changing sides. She would just have to see if he was willing to tell.
Course, that meant she was actually still leery. He could play along one hundred percent, perhaps trying to pry information from her about the Autobots in the area or NEST.

"Was a Decepticon." he corrected her. "Until I found out those commie loving bastards were conspiring with the enemies of America." said Gutsy, his voice laden with disdain for his former compatriots. "Bastards had enough gall to work with the Nazis! Of all people!" he said, clearly going off on his own tangent now. "That day when I got into that wrestling match with that no-good kraut Luger, or whatever the hell he called himself, and found out he had a Decepticon logo painted on him, I realized that for...hell...most of my life I'd been fighting for the wrong side!" he added as he began to pace back and forth in the small clearing he had found.
At that point, a scratchy flute recording of "America" began to play from somewhere inside of him. "The Decepticons don't have the interests of the American people. If they did, they wouldn't have hired a damn Nazi to join their ranks! Why he's no more good than Hitler himself!" said Gutsy, with his arms folded behind his back (well as best as he could, considering one of them was the cannon from his tank mode). "And that's why I want to switch sides, you see. It took me two wars, and part of this one to realize that the Autobots are the ones who're really looking out for the people."

Cira chuckled at Gutsy's comment about Hilter. She got up and carefully balanced herself and turned to the right to climb onto a higher branch that was a little more than her height above her. She reached up and grabbed the branch and pulled herself up, lifting her knees to her chest and then leaned back to hold on so she could hang off the tree by her legs like a monkey. Cira let her self hang and kept her hoody from falling to her face with her hands. She immediately felt the blood rush to her head as she looked 'up' a little to look at Gutsy. She wasn't that much higher than before, just...upside down now.
He certainly seemed to be passionate about how he felt, thus Cira felt convinced deep down inside. Still, she couldn't help but continue to be a bit leery in the back of her mind.
"Well the Autobots have been fighting the 'Con's on and off since at least a couple years ago as far as I can recall. i think they've been there longer than that though. Apparently they've visited Earth before and we just never knew. I found out the truth of their existence a few years ago a little before I was recruited. But really, I think now that we previously destroyed one of their true motives, the Decepticons just want Earth as a second home or something, so its obvious they care little about the inhabitants.
So with all that in mind, I'd like to add that while I've never seen this bot Luger, I suggest you look out for my ex partner KARR. He's an evil, crazy SOB with little reason to destroy other than the excuse of his programming and boredom." Cira said, swinging slightly on the branch for the fun of it.
She paused for a second, briefly debating about what to ask Gutsy. "So you're interested in joining the good guys...well that's the turn of a brand new leaf I'd dare say. A brave turn. I hope you don't have any close ties with the Decepticons, I'd hate to see the bad boys go after you to steal you back or for simple revenge."

"Well, in all honesty. When I first came to Earth, I had the fortune, or misfortune, depending on who you are, to have showed up a few years before World War Two." said Gutsy. "Took the form of a civvie truck until they started churning out Shermans. I needed something to occupy my time, so I took the form of the tank you saw earlier and fought alongside humans. Pretty much everything I learned in order to blend in was patriotic sentiment." he added.
"Then came the Cold War. A mockery of the name "war" if you ask me. Just a bunch of bluebloods in suits having a pissing contest is what all that was. After that whole fiasco blew over, I figured it was high time to retire. I was already somewhat old by that time anyways. And there's nothin' like a little R&R on Uncle Sam's dime." He stopped for a moment to see if she were still paying attention. Most people got bored at this point, but he chose to continue anyways.
"So I guess the Cybertronian civil war found itself to your planet. Some of them crashed landed near my museum, and, hell, I thought 'Finally, those slagging Ruskies made a move!' and I got up, stretched my gears, and headed out to find that they weren't nukes. They were more Decepticons."
Gutsy looked up at the sky for a moment before looking back at Cira. "So here, I thought that the American people figured out what I was, and called more of us to help fight the new Red Menace. So really, like I probably said before, I thought the Decepticons were fighting for America. Boy was I wrong. 'Cause if anything, they've shown themselves to be selfish bastards." he said.
He looked over at Cira. "Oh look at me. Rambling like the old vet I am. I've lead the discussion all sorts of astray. But the matter at hand is that I need to go to this NEST place I always heard the 'Cons muttering about and tell Optimus personally that I want to switch sides. But I need someone to vouch for me."

"I was fairly innocent, only fresh out of high school when most of this started up..."Cira felt the blood rushing to her head from hanging upside down still. Gutsy really did seem passionate about changing sides. Perhaps she could get permission to escort him to NEST. She righted herself on the tree. "but as I mentioned, I've been working at NEST. I check in there every so often, a couple times every other week when I get called. So...I could probably escort you there. It's hell of a drive though as its across the country. I'd recommend cargo plane if we can get the paper work. The aircraft I fly couldn't carry you at all."
Cira was pretty sure he could be trusted, but maybe she could bring KITT or Ironhide for protection just in case. She couldn't help it, Cira didn't want to be blamed for anything bad that might randomly pop up down the flight...
