Chris At Age 3Setinel could be considered a rather rambunctious and spirited little 'pain in the aft' in his youth. But he was a cute little pain in the aft. Or at least that was how his parents would so aptly put it. Normally he'd be causing all kind of havoc, but that morning he knew not to. Optimus had gotten a break from work for the day, meaning... Well, pretty much he'd know if he'd cause trouble. He sighed sprawled out on the metal floor. Half in between coloring what was the equivilant of a Cybertronian Coloring Book, and half watching some mindless childish cartoon that he was only partially paying attention to. He looked up slowly, and looked around for his parents. Neither were around from what he could see. His Mother was probably tired or something, and still in bed. But he wasn't sure where Optimus was. He sighed, looking back down at the coloring book. It was really a bunch of scribbles ike most toddlers would color, but he didn't really know the difference. Of course however, like any toddler he grew bored. He stood up calmly and made his way across the living room to the couch. It was a bit tall considering it was Cybertronian made, and it soon became clear Setinel couldn't climb up. He fell back, onto his back. Pain welled up followed by tears, and soon he was wailing. Though one could argue it was his own fault he had fallen, he didn't really care. He still cried, a little mroe then needed considering he had only barely hit his head. But to a young child, even the slightest bit of pain required a wail from them. "Dadddddyyy." He cried out. Thinking it was possible his Father was the only one currently awake.

Not my best post, I'm tired for some reason...
Optimus had just entered his house, and the first thing he heard was his son crying. Approaching the living room, he let out a laugh, and picked him up. "You shouldn't try to climb on the couch by yourself." With Sentinel in his hands, he layed him on the couch, and grabbed the book Sentinel had been coloring in earlier. With his other hand, he picked up the crayons, and layed them on the sofa beside Sentinel. He then sat down himself.
Sentinel's mom was still alseep, she had a long day. Last night she was up late watching their son. And he had taken advantage of the time he had off by spending time with Sentinel. His gaze turned to Sentinel, watching him.

Setinel brightend up a bit. It may have been because the touch of cold metal against a pained spot often felt calming. He giggled a little, then looked up at his Father. Even at his young age, he often found it odd his Father was a giant robot, whilst his Mother was... Well, human.
Of course, the three year old, being young couldn't think long on the subject. There was really no real difference in his mind. There was no Robot and Human most of the time. They were just his 'Mommy' and 'Daddy' and nothing more. "I wish I was big like you Daddy, then I could climb it." He said, staring up at him.
"Mommy keep saying I will be, but I never am." He said. It was in a childish manner that he said this. Like every three year old, he wanted to grow up now, and be just like his Father. Though he still didn't understand that his mostly human form made that a bit difficult.

Optimus sighed. It was good that he didn't have anything to worry about, well, if you didn't count Sentinel to fall within that category. The leader knew that his son was taking a liking to Sideswipe, and his pranks. And Optimus wasn't the happiest Transformer when he found out his son had been playing in Wheeljack's lab. And based off of that, Optimus had told Ironhide to keep a lock on his weapon storage. They didn't need Sentinel figuring out how to use a weapon. Optimus would have a fit if that happened.
"Well, being small has its advantages also." A smile crossed his face. "And your mother and I don't want you to grow up too fast." Picking Chris up, he held him in his arms, and turned to face the TV.

Setinel smiled slightly, he liked being held by his Father. Whether it was in the rather giant arms of his robot form, or, oftentimes in the arms of his human holoform. He felt safe and secure when the Autobot Leader held him, he held the 'remote' in his small hands and flipped the channel.
What it landed on was not Optimus's favorite show in the world, that he knew. On Cybertron they got some signals from other planets, Earth included, and Setinel had recently discovered the big purple dinosaur that the children of Earth knew as 'Barney'. "Hey Daddy, can I asks you a questin?" He said talking in normal broken English for a toddler.
It wasn't a serious question though what he had in mind was... Rather odd for a three year old to ask. But then again, he was part robot, and a bit more observent because of it.

As Sentinel smiled, Optimus smiled back. He tickled the young child's stomach, before returning his gaze to the TV. The channel changed, and Optimus had to keep himself from sighing. He shouldn't have allowed Sentinel to watch this show, as now he was addicted to it.
As Sentinel started speaking, Optimus took his gaze away from the TV quickly, and he looked at Sentinel. "What is it?" His gaze was still trained on his son.
Optimus really didn't like the big purple dinosaur, but he wouldn't say anything to Sentinel, even though his son already knew that. If Ironhide ever saw the show, then Optimus wouldn't want to be there when he pulled out his weapons. Optimus had always enjoyed Ironhide's company, knowing the big bot would back his words up with force, especially with Decepticons.

Setinel giggled lightly as Optimus ticked him. He nuzzled against his Father's armored plating slightly. Hoping the mech didn't mind much, though he guessed he didn't. "What's a Decepticon?" He asked innocently.
Setinel had heard his Uncle Ironhide talking about them earlier in the week. He had only heard it once before, when Optimus and Jasmine had spoken about his Uncle Megatron, who he had never met before. His curiosity was very much peeked as to what the group was.
He knew his Father was an 'Autobot', but the Autobots were the only group hed ever known. Unlike most 'sparklings' he had been lucky enough to not have been fully exposed to the ongoing war yet. He wasn't even yet aware that his Father led an army in fact.

As Sentinel giggled, Optimus smiled. He snuggled into his arms, and Optimus looked down at him, smiling brighter. He wasn't able to spend much time with his son, so when he could, it was a reward for him.
At his question, Optimus Prime stalled. "Well, a Decepticon is... not a friend. You don't want to communicate with them at all, and you'll even want to stay away from them." Grabbing the coloring book and a black crayon, he found a spot where Sentinel hadn't gotten ahold of yet.
Drawing two symbols very carefully, he showed them to Sentinel. "This one right here," his hand pointed to the Autobot symbol. "is called an Autobot symbol. And this one here," his hand moved over to the other symbol. "is called a Decepticon symbol. If you see this symbol, stay away from that Transformer. Their not very friendly."
He put the crayon down, but kept the book so that Sentinel could study it. After all, if he was going to know who was a friend and who was a foe, then he'd need to know them by looks. Of course, there was also the way they'd act too. But that was a bit too much information for a four year old to know. He didn't even need to know what a Decepticon was, not yet.

Setinel looked it over a bit, the first symbol he recognized at once. Optimus had it on his chest, and Setinel had a birthmark in that shape on his right shoulder. Likely signifying that he was the child of an Autobot by birth. "So they like bad guys." He observed "I understand."
He didn't mention nor ask why his Uncle Megatron was one of them. He didn't quite understand it all, but he understood some of it, all that a three year old could anyway. Setinel then giggled a little looking at the pointy ear-like things on the Decepticon symbol. "It look like bunny." He observed slightly.
Of course, that could only come out of a child's mouth. Especially when he was staring at what was the symbol of a group that would... If they ever found out about him. Use Setinel to their every advantage in order to get to Optimus.

Optimus sighed. His son did understand. That was it, too much TV the kid had watched. Well, with all the shows out there about violence, he would understand what a bad guy was. "Yes. Like a bad guy." The worst part was that this bad guy's leader was his own brother. That was a twist of fate.
Optimus sighed at Sentinel's comment. "Bunnies aren't what they had in mind when they've made the symbol." His voice was gentle, but there was some hurt in it. His own brother... He had started the war just years ago, and Prime still couldn't believe he hadn't seen it coming.
He was used to situations like that though, acting on a whim's notice. He had done it before, pretty often. It was, you could say, his way of survival.

Chris noticed his Father's sudden sadness, both in tone and expression. He wondered what was wrong with his Father. Especially considering he would normally had laughed about the 'bunny' comment. He hugged the crevice of his Father's armor slightly. It was the closest he could come when his Father was in robot form to hugging him.
"Are you okay Daddy?" He asked, letting go, he looked up at his Father.
Perhaps had he known about his Uncle he'd have understood better, but he didn't, and as such he was confused. Whenever he was around him, his Father was a chipper and friendly mech. He rarely caught sight of the days when Optimus was upset or stressed over things.

Optimus hadn't wanted to sound the way he had in front of Chris. When Chris asked if he was ok, Optimus sighed. "In a way, no." It was time Chris knew the truth, about everything.
Shifting his position slightly, he looked at Chris. "You know your uncle, Megatron? Well, he's my brother. And he's a Decepticon." He paused, allowing the news to sink in. "But that's not all. He is their leader. Megatron wants power, and I wouldn't allow him to have it. That's how this war started."
As Sentinel hugged Prime, the Autobot leader hugged him to his chest, his finger stroking his back slightly. He continued his speech. "Megatron and I have a different relationship than most brothers have. We're enemies. We both are leaders also." Sentinel would most likely know that what Prime meant that he was the leader of the Autobbots.

Setinel took all of this in with a bit of shock. He had never seen this coming. So that was the reason Megatron's name was taboo. He was not only evil but he and his Father virtually hated eachother. He thought for a moment, but was calmed when his Father gave him a gentle hug.
"I'm sorry Daddy." He commented, looking up at his Father, resting his head against his Father's chestplate "Dats sad..." He said quietly.
He didn't fully understand they were at war still. He didn't even know the meaning of the word. But he did understand that there was some sort of conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons.

Optimus turned his gaze to his son, hoping his words hadn't scared him. Sentinel didn't need to know that, but at the same time he had. There were other of his race rising all around him, and most of them had been introduced to the war yet. Sentinel was the lucky one. He still didn't even know of the war, let alone he hadn't experienced it first hand.
Optimus saw Sentinel look up at him, and Optimus watched as his head rested against his metal. "Don't be." He sighed slightly. "I know its sad, but fate wants it this way it seems." Optimus often talked about faith, for what reasons though were unknown.
He should be the one apologizing. "Are you ok?" He knew physically, Sentinel was, but what he was wondering was mentally. He wondered if what he had said scared Sentinel.

Setinel nodded calmly, he smiled up at Optimus, nestling against the Autobot leader calmly. He thought about an answer for a few seconds before speaking. "Uh-huh... I'm okay cause you'll alway be ere to keep me safe." The child said, trying to pronounce the bigger words as best as he could "As long as I wit you I'm safe."
He got into a more comfortable position against his Father's body. But still rested his head against it. What he said was true, like most kids he felt his Father was quite 'invincible'. And he knew that no matter what happened, his Father wouldn't let anything happen to him.
