An Important Meeting [Corina]

(at some point KITT will be here if you wish, I think he'd want to stay for the procedure)

Ratchet waited for Corina to meet him in the medbay, first in his office to get some paper work. The medic didn't speak to her much, but after having a request from KITT and Corina to meet with him, KITT gave him a brief run down on their current debates. They had decided sometime after Christmas to have Corina undergo an operation and transformation which would change her permenantly. The process would transform her into a human into a Cybertronian.

The process was tedious, some stages being life threatening, and took a good night or so to get the basic transplants and adjustments done, and Corina would have to recover in bed for several days to make sure her body accepted the change properly. Thus, with all the parts needed and time taken, Ratchet had a bit of paper work for Corina to fill out, along with his and KITTs own approval (him being her partner), and had to make sure Corina wasn't going to have any second thoughts. He was more than okay with giving Corina more time to think about it-and that was exactly what this meeting was for.

Shuffling into the Med Bay with the necessary paper work at the ready in case she confirmed her request, Ratchet set the sheets on an empty stretcher and paced around, waiting.

Corina had a very important meeting with Ratchet today. It was about her decision to become a full blown cybertronian. The decision had come about when her and KITT had been talking about their future when KITT was going to be a lot older and she was still going to be fairly young. Things were realized that Corina hadn't ever thought about before, what would happen to KITT when she died and had to leave him behind because of her organic life span? It was at that moment that both her and KITT had agreed that making the transformation to being a cybertronian like him and the others was completely in the question. She had been debating about that very decision for many days, and it was probably one of the best ideas she had ever thought of. The positives were that she could now be able to protect herself instead of having to constantly rely on KITT for protection along with be by his side until a Decepticon came and killed her or her cybertronian life ended. She had a few questions for Ratchet since he was going to be the one performing the surgery.She was well aware of the training and practice it was going to take for her to become as good as KITT and Optimus, but she was definately determined that it would work and she would be able to fight like she had always been a transformer. Though the part that baffled her was how she was going to master transforming into an alternate mode. She walked towards the Med Bay still fairly nervous about the process but she was positive that she was ready to go through the surgery. She had hoped that KITT would eventually show up and be able to be there for her when she went into the surgery.
She entered the Med Bay and immediately saw Ratchet along with a stack of papers. She knew that there was going to be some paperwork but she didn't think there was going to be that much paperwork. "Hello Ratchet.[/color] She walked over to the stretcher with the paper work and paused for a moment twidling her fingers together before asking, "Ratchet, when the surgery is over and I wake up.....will I be able to transform naturally? Or will I have to learn?"[/color]

"It will take a little more effort than normal to transform, but it can be done. However, keep in mind that you are one of the very first humans to undergo this process. I heard Jade was supposed to be a techno organic like some of the others here, but apparently her body didn't initially accept the transplants and adjustments. The Cons had to remove her ability to transform, and her body rejected the rest. It is uncertain if she could be one of those that have a successful second attempt at completing the process.

I'm trying not to scare you, but that is a very rare case, and the person can easily be saved. I don't know why they didn't kill her on the spot when the process failed. The reasons could be as simple as someone just forgetting she was adjusting...Now, 98 percent of these procedures have been successful, for as you can tell, all the techno organics around here function just fine. It takes a while to get a vehicle that works. Jade's failed operation was different than yours because she was a test tube child. YOU on the other hand, are undergoing a more extreme transformation that will turn you COMPLETELY Cybertronian. And by turning you into one of us instead of a techno, the risks Jade faced are practically non existent so long as the surgeon does it right. Which of course, I will. I was just trying to remind you that the process that they went through is not the same as this one."Ratchet replied very promptly, pausing briefly for her to take as much of that in as possible. He smiled down at her a bit shyly with his hands crossed behind his back for a bit, hoping she got most of all that.

"Also, because you are becoming a true Cybertronian, the only thing you will have to worry about is getting used to your new body. I presume you don't want something too small, perhaps no smaller than Mudflap and Skids correct? The possibilities are endless really, so long as we have the materials, which I do. I haven't had to do this for anyone yet, but this was one of the first things I reviewed when I got to Earth."Ratchet added calmly.

Corina listened attentively as Ratchet spoke about how Jade had gone through a similar procedure through the Decepticons. She was slightly worried as he had talked about how Jade’s body didn’t accept the Cybertronian half that the Decepticons had tried to implant into her body. It made her slightly nervous about the procedure, but because Ratchet made sure that she knew it was because the Decepticons were testing on Jade and it was because she was only wanting to be a techno-organic. This made her a lot less nervous, and even made her sympathy and compassion for Jade come up and now she really wondered as well why the Decepticons didn’t just kill her because she was a failure. ”Wow I never realized any of that actually happened to Jade. Now I feel so terrible that she had to deal with the Decepticons.[/color]
She was a lot more confident when Ratchet made the point that none of the complications that Jade had faced in her surgery were not going to be present in the surgery she was going to through because she was getting the transformation to a full cybertronian and not just a techno-organic. She was relieved and was completely ready for the surgery. “I’m not worried about the surgery that much Ratchet, I know that you will do everything in your power for the surgery to go as smoothly as possible. I was actually hoping to be about the size of Jazz if that’s not a problem. And I’m sure with a little bit of help from you, KITT and Interceptor I’m sure I’ll be able to get used to my new body quickly and get used to transforming.”[/color] She gave a reassuring smile to assure Ratchet that she was alright and not scared.

(btw, Jade didn't want to be a techno by choice. She was literally grown/developed by the Cons. The genes DNA were probably taken from some random female.)

"Keep in mind, the lengthiest part of the process, and the riskiest, is keeping the...materials belonging to your soul intact. As all beings' souls are not tangible, the only way to salvage what makes you who you are is through RAW data. There is simply no other way. I read many stellar cycles ago before I came to Earth that both Autobots and Decepticons alike have tried to master this stage and failed, for the soul's very essence was lost as soon as the brain stopped functioning. After a few more tries, they eventually got it right, but even then the souls were...a bit distorted. They weren't exactly perfect, and sometimes the transformation caused that being to seem like a new person. However, salvaging as much data from the brain as possible helps prevent this. Over time, you will gain a new spirit from the spark, and what was salvaged will blend together."

He glanced at the paper work."I have enough materials for a form that size. Well, since you seem quite confident about having this transformation done, I will make the necessary preparations momentarily."Ratchet then gazed calmly towards the entrance of the med bay, and a familiar black bot with a double red scanner covering the area where his optics should be emerged."Ah, KITT. Good to see you here. Not much else needs to be discussed, and she seems confident about following through with this."

KITT smiled. He hadn't really wanted to push Corina into doing something as crazy as this, but it seemed the more she brought it up after she learned of the idea, the more excited about it she seemed."I see." Ratchet spoke up promptly just after those two words, even though KITT didn't have much else to say other than emphasize how nervous yet excited he was. "Corina, I've allowed KITT to assist me in transferring your personality data and memories. I figured you'd feel better with him there."he said sincerely.

Corina listened as Ratchet talked about the transferring of her memories and was slightly nervous about not all of her memories and personality being able to transfer into her head. She was hoping that all of her personality from the RAW data was going to be able to transfer to her new body without any problems but of course she was still slightly nervous. “To be honest I trust your million stellar cycles of working over the Decepticons testing.” [/color] She looked towards the door a few moments after noticing that Ratchet had done so and noticed that KITT had entered the Med Bay. She was happy that he was there seeing that she was wanting him to be with her during the surgery whether she was aware of his presence there or not. She smiled to him as Ratchet told him that she was confident about the surgery. She then turned to Ratchet as he spoke about KITT being there to help aid with him in the transferal of her personality and memories. She smiled at both Ratchet and KITT because she trusted them both fully even though she had only just started talking to Ratchet. She knew he was a good medic and would do anything in his power to keep his comrades, human and cybertronian, alive and well. “Alright Ratchet.” [/color] She turned towards KITT. “I am ready for the procedure whenever you two are ready.” [/color] She smiled sweetly at both of them and let out a re-assuring word. “I’m sure it will go smoothly with no problems as long as you two are here to do it. [/color]

[Ratchet]

"Then we shall begin."Ratchet said with a confident nod. "This is the part where I explain the beginning stages of the detail which you will be conscious for in detail. The first stages of this operation are going to be the most tense. Seeing how you are not being transformed into a techno organic, you must lose your human body all together to make this work right. It may sound easy, but you'll never have your organic body again."Ratchet reminded her as he pushed over a much larger stretcher closer to KITTs size which contained a somewhat smaller body of an Cybertronian shell, and pushed it right next to the stretcher he wished her to be on. "The time consuming part will be spending time getting synchronized with your brainwaves/thought patterns and data (memories). Were we using human technology, I don't even want to guess how long it would take...Once all the transfers are done, we will no longer need your body, for the spark operates as a separate unit, and will be programmed with the usual protocols."

"We're reiterating that the main step of the transformation requires us to do some serious downloading. Just so you would be aware of some of the details involving the process." while KITT took a second to explain why there was more talk involved, Ratchet's holo-form waited for Corina to situate herself and KITT's holoform helped grab the various electronics needed, along with the necessary attachments which would help channel the currents from the brain and synchronize it into the processor of the Cybertronian shell. KITT glanced at Corina. All though his scanners blocked all possible signs of worry off his face, his monotonous tone added as he moved a bit closer to her, kneeling some to be a bit closer: "Are you sure you're ready for something like this?" KITT was worried that with explaining the process to her in a little more detail which clearly hinted her body would be thrown away afterwords, he was worried that Corina would become scared or have second thoughts. Seeing how she was quite confident a bit ago, it wasn't likely what was just said would change much, yet KITT couldn't help but worry some aspect of the idea of losing her body at that point in the end of the procedure would scare her. The transition between her dying and her cybertronian body rising upon having all its data was clearly very critical.

Corina was slightly nervous at this point because now she knew that she would never be able to see her human body ever again, it made her slightly sad because she loved her human body. This of course brought up the question. ”Won’t I be able to use my human body for my holographic mode? Or will I have to use a new body?[/color] She has mainly wanted to know that because if she could make that her hologram it would be easier to make visits back to her mother and other family and friends a lot easier. Corina climbed up onto the stretcher that Ratchet had prepared for her and got herself comfortable. She then looked down towards the ring that KITT had given her as a Christmas present, she was going to keep it and cherish it forever in her memories once she had her Cybertronian self all ready to go. She was hoping that she would possibly be able to turn it into somekind of necklace once she had her robot mode but she wasn’t holding her breathe on that, so instead she slipped the ring into a small box that she had carried in her pocket since the ring was the only piece of jewelry she had on she took it off and carefully placed it in the box just as KITT asked her if she was ready for something as serious at this procedure. She looked towards his holographic form and smiled re-assuringly once again at him. ”I am ready KITT. I am not scared to loose my human body for this new Cybertronian one because it means I will have a longer and better life with everyone here at NEST,[/color] She held out the box towards him and spoke softly, ”Keep it safe until I wake up from the procedure. I presume I will be unconscious for a majority of the procedure. Mainly the part where my memories get transferred to my new body.[/color] She then looked towards Ratchet’s holoform and gave a look of confidence: “Ratchet, I’m ready. [/color]

[Ratchet]

"Very well."Ratchet double checked the connections to all the wires which would be attached to Corinas human mind with her new Cybertonian one for the intensive downloading process of the memory data, conscious and subconscious thought patterns. It would take a while, and as long as Corina was in a deep stasis, she wouldn't know anything was being done to her whatsoever.

While Ratchet prepared the main device, KITT activated his holoform and gently took the box from Corina, taking his holoform's hands in her human one's one last time, and then held the box securely in his own."I certainly will,"he replied with a soft smile.

"Lay down on the stretcher and hold these devices on your fingers to avoid being any charges going into your body during the intense downloading process."Ratchet ordered, holding the devices out to her which would absorb the energy and protect her from the shock. "The covers that are connected to your head as a special tape also help prevent this."he said, and would place them about her skull appropriately when she was situated on the stretcher. His holoform double checked the mixtures, one was a deep sedative, the other was what would peacefully shut down her organic body once the transfer was successful and she gained consciousness in her new one.

Corina gave a confident smile as KITT's holoform took the box with the ring in it. "I'll see you when I wake up in my new body KITT.[/color] She then turned to face Ratchet's holoform who handed her some devices to put over her fingertips and asked her to lay down on the stretcher. She took the devices and held onto them tightly with her fingers and then laid down on the stretcher comfortably. She was not sure what it was like to actually be put out with sedatives, but from what others had told her it would seem like she was only under for a second and then would wake up. She was hoping that she would be able to dream some at least until her conscious was transferred to the new cybertronian body. She laid on the stretcher quietly and waited for Ratchet to start the procedure.

KITT nodded in response and stood back to let Ratchet do his work. Ratchet secured the straps on her stretcher and did a final inspection on her Cybertronian form, making sure its processor was ready to start the intense and powerful transfer/download.

[Timeskip-because I don't think much else needs to be said]

Ratchet and KITT carefully monitored the download process, and after a while, the process slowed, reaching a point in Corinas conscience which represented her current brain activity. "This is it, isn't it?"KITT asked. Ratchet nodded. "You may do the honors of awakening her new form if you wish."Ratchet said as he made sure Corina's processor was intact and that all pieces of her helms armor were closed and secure. KITT nodded, waiting for the right moment when Ratchet disconnected her organic life form, along with physically disconnecting all the needles and chords.

Glancing at Corina's spark chamber, KITT made sure the spark was operating in a healthy manner. When he watched human-Corina's heart rate start to slow as Ratchet injected the mixture which would peacefully shut down Corina's body, KITT's scanners turned back to Corina's Cybertronian form and bent over a bit to meet optics with her. Gently he touched her spark chamber, hoping it would help her bot form stir but not startle her."Corina, you can wake up now..."

Corina had been in a very deep sleep, and a very peaceful dream at that one. It was probably one of the longest dreams she has ever had. And was almost completely unaware of anything going on outside of her mind. The sleep was weird to explain, it was like a mixture of just blankness as well as a mixture of comforting and warmth. She almost didn’t want to wake from the dream. She felt herself and a weird way to say it was that she actually felt her body dissolving as the process of transferring her personality and memories to the processor finished completely. She felt different in the dream and it was at that moment that she felt like she was staring into darkness when she suddenly heard KITT’s voice. It brought her “back to life” from the dream.
Blue optics opening slowly, Corina was a bit woozy and the first thing she saw when she woke up was KITT, she was relieved to see his face, but from the angle she saw, everything looked the same, she couldn’t help but think: “Did the surgery work?[/color] She then noticed something, she wasn’t breathing. And it was almost impossible to live without breathing. She almost immediately had her question answered. “How do I look? [/color]

[Ratchet]

"Just as a Cybertonian should."Ratchet said, turning to glance at them with a smile before he turned his attention back to the equipment, stowing it away in the supply room.

"Beautiful."KITT replied, wondering what her alternate mode would be. "I suggest you take your first few steps slow. Your hand eye coordination will require a bit of adjusting, but otherwise the concepts are similar. I'll show you how to get an alternate mode and transform later. Take it easy for now though."KITT said, knowing that's what Ratchet would suggest. "The easy part about this is you've already got a human form to scan, one that clearly belongs to you." he stepped back a bit to give Corina some space, his holo-form still holding the box.

Corina smiled as Ratchet told her that she looked just like a normal Cybertronian should look like. She turned towards KITT as he said that she looked beautiful and if blushing were possible for giant robots she would most certainly be blushing. She listened as KITT advised her to take her first few steps carefully. She nodded her head and was amazed that when ever she wanted to nod her head it was just like she was in her normal human body. She knew that the moment she stood up would prove to herself that she will be able to get used to her new body easily. She firmed the grip on the berth with her hands and started to push up just like she was getting out of bed and everything was going smoothly.
Corina was now in a sitting position on the berth and was facing the wall in front of her as well as Ratchet. She was fairly nervous but she knew that it would work because her arms and hands worked so far. “Here goes nothing...”[/color] She said as she slowly started to shift her body to the side facing KITT. Her legs moved normally just like she was in her human body and she was relieved. With her legs now dangling over the side with the ground only about a foot from her feet she slowly pushed herself up off the berth and put an arm over towards KITT so she could have some balance as she stood up for the first time. She was happy when she was finally standing and keeping a good balance. ”Wow....Its so far from the ground....[/color] Though she was happy that she could finally stand up, the height was going to have some getting used to. As Corina turned to Ratchet she asked "So my human body will be my holographic self, correct?" [/color].

[KITT]

"Yes. KITT's right, it's easiest that way. As I don't think you want to hunt for a new human figure or make your own like some of us do. It takes a lot of time, and a lot of layers-along with some advanced coding skills."Ratchet replied with a nod as he bustled about, going into his usual clean up/organizing routine.

"In this case, it's like taking a photograph with a long exposure. Most of how you envision yourself is already engraved in your conscience..."KITT paused, trying to help Ratchet save some time and effort in explaining these things. "Your optics are like a camera, in a sense. When you decide to record the data, you'll see how easy it is. You can give it a try now unless you want to readjust to walking first..."he said, looking down at her (seeing how he's a little smaller than Bee by about a foot or so).

(umm, I dont really know if bots really work like this so please correct me if I'm wrong^^;...)
