To anyone else born on that date, January 8th would have been a day of celebration. But for Jake it really had never been, why would Recoil have celebrated the birth of him after all? He was almost positive he despised him from day one. So for Jake, his fifteenth birthday wasn't that big of a deal. He was almost positive it was probably a much bigger deal to Cutlass and Chasm, his biological and adoptive Father's respectively, then it was to him.
This all explained very easily why Jake was spending his birthday lounging around the hangar, on his computer. He sighed, typing up things on his computer at lightning speed. He hadn't seen either Cutlass or Chasm around at all oddly enough. Though he and Cutlass had had time together since he'd joined the Autobots. That, in his opinion, had been like an early birthday gift. As he had told him at Christmas, he had missed spending time with Cutlass greatly.
"Mmm, not gonna think too hard on it." He muttered to himself, still scanning over his computer quietly, enjoying himself with the computer game he found himself hooked on.

Sitting in the hangar a ways behind Jacob completely still was a Mini Cooper with a special iridescent paint job which shifted primarily between purple and green with traces of other colors mixed in. Knowing this vehicle was actually an Autobot one would likely assume they were in recharge but that wasn't the case. They were wide awake and watching Jacob interestedly.
It seemed a bit strange that Arc would still be so shy around Jacob, especially considering that he was Chasm's son and Chasm was one of the best friends Arc had had since, well, ever really. In fact, it was usually Chasm that encouraged them to be more outgoing and tried to include them in conversations when they would normally just eavesdrop to stay out of the way. Not that they would say much in the actual conversations but it felt good to feel welcomed.
The game Jacob was playing really interested Arc. They had been on Earth for a few months now but still had a lot to learn it seemed, with the exception of music as Arc had quickly become obsessed with it and downloaded everything that had to do with it to their processor. They started rolling forward a bit inching closer to Jacob and his computer to get a better look also turning invisible as they did so so they wouldn't be distracting or, in general, noticed. They were soon pretty close behind Jacob watching intently and silently until finally their curiosity got the better of them. "What is that?" they asked, forgetting that they were still invisible.

Jacob looked up from his game with a sigh, looking over, but not seeing Arc. He was used to him being invisible and thus had no realy freaked out reaction as some may have. He looked over where he had heard the voice, and gave a faint smile. "Runescape 8.0... A really fun medievel game." He replied, looking over at the 13 messages from online friends that said 'happy birthday!!' he considered hiding them, but decided against that "It's kind of hard to explain, but basically you play a character and run around doing whatever you want." He explained as best as he could "It's fun."

Arc paused a bit trying to understand. "So... You get to be someone else?" they asked to clarify. The idea intrigued them, there had been many times when Arc wished they could be someone else. Countless times actually. There were times when the guilt, sorrow, and fear they felt simply because they were made sometimes put an almost unbearable pressure on them and they felt as though as long as they were still themself they could never get rid of that pressure. It was one of the reasons they went by "Arc." Their full name, Archetype, automatically associated them with the event surrounding the point they were brought online where many Autobots and Decepticons had lost their lives fighting over them. And even so, they weren't even complete, having been brought online prematurely during the chaos. As a result Arc also tended to think of themself as being defective.
Arc tried not to let the memories resurface. They'd gotten a bit better at hiding how much they were hurting lately, mostly so people wouldn't worry over them. It didn't seem right to trouble others with their own issues. After all, hadn't they already caused enough trouble?
They focused on the game again, noting the messages. "What does 'Happy birthday' mean?" They'd heard the phrase before, mostly in various songs, but didn't yet grasp the meaning.

"Yep, you see that warrior right there? That's me." Jacob motioned to his character with a small smile, almost as if proud. The character was decked in awesome armor, and armed with two blades, he looked like a total badass in a way. When Arc asked what a Birthday was, he had to think fast. "It's basically what a creation day is for you guys..." He explained "I turned fifteen years old today. This was when I was born." He hoped that would explain it well enough.

Arc paused for a moment. "Oh..." they said finally with a bit of a sad tone. Had they been in their robot form they would have undoubtedly looked down at the floor. That certainly hadn't helped to keep the memories from resurfacing. "I guess for most people their birthday is a good thing huh?"
They tried not to think about their own creation, the reason, the result, any of it. They focused on the game again in an attempt to keep their mind off it. "So, do you have to be a warrior? Or can you be something else?"

"Yeah birthday's are supposed to be a great thing. Everyone loves them." Jake replied with a slight smile, but it faded ever so slowly. That was the entire problem, everyone knew what a birthday was like. Jake didn't. He had never celebrated a single birthday in his life. "I never got to celebrate a single birthday in my entire life though, so I wouldn't know specifics even if you asked."
He then looked up from his game for a brief moment, thinking it over. "You can be anything, there's no one set class, you have different things you train." He then added "Attack, Strength, Deffense, Ranging, Fletching, Construction, Magic." He then added finally "It's like a whole second life you get to live the way you want to."

"I guess I don't know what it's like never getting to celebrate a 'birthday.' I mean, I've never celebrated my creation day but to be honest I never wanted to..." Arc said getting gradually quieter. Great, just another thing that made them 'broken.'
They started feeling their energy drop a bit and remembered that they were still invisible. It was pretty common for them to forget since sometimes the invisibility kicked in as more of a subconscious thing. They turned visible right away, as being invisible was a bit pointless right now and would do nothing but drain their energy more. "I'd love to try being someone else. The only thing is..." Arc stopped, not wanting to think about it. They didn't want to ruin their fantasy, the one possible escape from themself they might have found.

A purple and gold Shelby Cobra sped towards the base as quickly as was somewhat legal. The Autobot symbol on the hood identified the car as an Autobot, and those who knew the coloring would recognise them as one of the bot in Communications, Chasm. His holoform was in place in the driver's seat, looking extremely worried. "That took way too long." The holoform stole a glance at the passenger seat. A wrapped up box was sitting there. He'd been working on the present for a while, and had taken into town to get finished and wrapped. Unfortunately, his patrol had run longer than expected, so here he was, racing to get back to the base.
With a squeal of tires, Chasm slid into the hanger, stopping by Jake and Arc. "Hey, Jake! Hey, Arc!"

Jacob shrugged and slid the computer over to him, smirking a bit. "Take my character for a test run, it's just a point and click game, shouldn't be too hard." He grinnned as he looked up and heard Chasm, getting to his feet and walking towards him, giving his hood a gentle hug, then looking at him. "Hey Dad! How was patrol?" He asked.

Arc rolled back about an inch, a bit surprised being handed control of Jacob's character, and also a bit worried. There were a couple reasons they were worried, the first being that they didn't want to mess up Jacob's game and the second being that they didn't have a holoform and the computer was obviously made to be used by humans. Nervously the transformed to their bot mode waving to Chasm and somewhat forcing a smile as he made his entrance then turning to the computer and slowly reaching out to try and use the controls despite their fingers being so much larger, paranoid about making a mistake or worse, breaking the computer.

Chasm's holoform grinned, getting the present and getting out, allowing his real body to transform. "Uneventful, for the mos part." He responded, real form sitting down. "But I did find a 'suspicious' package while I was out." His holoform held the present out. "I thought you might want to investigate, Birthday Boy."
Chasm's real form looked over at Arc. "Trying out a computer game, Arc?"

Jake was a bit surprised when Chasm handed him the present. He hadn't asked for anything, but then again, he was pretty positive it hadn't mattered. Chasm seemed to be the type taht was going to give him a present anyway, not that he was going to complain. He smiled and hugged the holoform tightly as he took the present. "Thanks Dad! You didn't have to get me anything though." He noted, giving it a slight shake, and grinning, starting to open it.
(Sorry, would have had him open it, but I wasn't sure if it's supposed to be something specific. So give me a heads up.)

Arc looked over at Chasm with a slight nod. "Uh yeah. It's Jake's game actually, he told me to play it." Turning back to the computer they reached out nervously and attempted to use the controls, flinching slightly as their oversized fingers hit a few more keys than intended. Hopefully that wouldn't effect the game too much. "I just hope I don't screw this up..." They muttered worriedly.

Chasm's holoform grinned. "It's still your birthday!" He replied. "Besides, I thought you'd like it!"
"You'll get the hang of it." Chasm responded. "Maybe we can ask Red about letting those games on some of our computers..."
(Sorry it's so short...And the present is a book filled with sketches of Jake, Chasm, and Cutlass. You decide specifics of it)
