Ratchet nodded. "Very well, I'll explain everything I can. You'll have to watch the first time around. I'll let you try working on the others. Get the supplies moved and I'll show you step by step." While he waited, he added:"It's fairly simple, all you have to do is focus on the key parts one at a time. At least, if it's possible. Sometimes, you'll find one problem that requires you to investigate a different one, that may require you to disable another part or mess with wiring somewhere else. If it's really bad, you might have multiple problems to deal with. Keeping track of the root problem for that particular part of the body will allow you start at a point A, move to a point B, C, and so forther rather than starting back wards or all over the place. It may sound easy, but the more damage present, the easier it is to get confused and out of order, and that can slow you down and stress you out. Working with humans is not so bad, but with robots even the size of these drones, it can get frustrating."
Ratchet reviewed the checklist of the current drone they were working on. While waiting for Chris, he went back to the bay to review it's condition, comparing with the checklist stated his observations from last night. The optics were mangled and cracked, wiring in that area and the neck were loose, the right shoulder joint was severely dis-located and damaged, several parts of the upper leg, abdomen and shoulder armor and circuitry was damaged. The drone's chest plate and wiring was also quite damaged.
Turning the drone over, the damage done on its backside was just as bad, if not worse. It looked like someone had managed to throw it face down on the ground stomping on it to death. It would require a lot of new armor, unbending of fairly reusable parts, welding, and a new paint job. It wasn't exactly damaged to the point it was unsalvagable. As Ratchet glanced at the other drones, the fifth looked so mangled, it may as well be deemed unrepairable-it would probably be cheaper to get a new one. However, for the sake of training, he decided to keep it.

Chris took every word his mentor said very easily, nodding when needed, and keeping still when not. Immediately after he followed Ratchet out, as soon as it was time, he started to work. To his almost dumbfounded surprise, he found everything relatively easy.
He had some trouble along the way with the drone he worked on, however, it was almost as if he had done it for a while. Most likely from working at Custom Cycles for so long. By doing so, it made everything so easy to figure out, it was like putting a motorcycle back together.
Once satisfied, he looked over at Ratchet, then spoke. "Hey Ratchet, is this good?" He asked, very calmly.

Ratchet double checked the joints and linkages for the armor. The front looked good. He turned the arms around, checking their movements, and then the legs. "The front looks good. Double check the back though, I believe the back needs some tweaking. However, all the repaired parts look fine. Also, check the head and the processor. The optics need to be looked at too, all though they do look better over all." he replied. "I'd recommend taking care of the back first." he checked his notes. "Check both upper and lower." He knew it was the upper back that needed the attention, but he'd let Chris confirm that and fix/tweak what was needed.
He was quite impressed with how Chris was handling everything so far, but then again, he'd worked at Custom Cycles with Monica and Mikaela for quite some time, so at the same time, he wasn't too surprised. Of course, it was a fact Ratchet still approved of.

Chris nodded slightly, feeling around the back of the drone quietly, he clearly noted the severe damage done to the back. Using a solvent, he began to somewhat easily glue cracks back together, doing the same to most of the other cracked parts. He then went into what was considered the spine of a transformer, feeling around, he noticed something unusual. "The spine has been severed." He commented "We're going to need to replace the whole middle part or no matter how patched up it is, it won't be moving."

Ratchet glanced at his clipboard again and nodded. "Yeah, that's what I got here. We should probably check the processor too. We'll definitely need to replace the wiring along the spine as well." He wasn't sure if they had enough at the moment, but that would be decided once they did a closer inspection. "After that you'll need to fix the armor around it. As you can see, that leads to why the inside armor and wiring along the upper spine is so messed up."

"Already on it." Chris replied as Ratchet had began speaking he had already begun fixing the spinal chord. Once he was done with that, he started on the wiring, he did so slowly, knowing how dlicate a procedure as it was. He hoped that, by doing a lot of this on his own, he'd be able to impress Ratchet. He finished the last wire and then turned his head to Ratchet "That should cover the spine, do you want to take a look before I stary on the processor?" He asked.

"Yeah."Ratchet pulled the drone towards him and inspected the wiring of the drone-one of the more important factors, especially for something as important as the spine. He inspected the structure along each major area, making sure nothing was too loose or too tight, and the right type of wiring was connected in the right places. Everything looked just right, well, 97 percent or so. Ratchet nodded approvingly, but he found a bit of a tight spot in the wiring that seemed to be a bit adjusted slightly different than the wires running along opposite side of that area."Good work, just make sure certain areas aren't tighter than their opposing sides. It should be secure, but remain a bit flexible. The work you did in that area is acceptable, but it's not completely uniform with the others. I'll emphasize that the difference is a very minor percentage-but, it's still worth bringing up. Not just for that alone, it would make sense that one tiny discrepancy as this could change everything--however, it doesn't in this case. Nice job other wise. You can continue."

"Yeah, I kind of figured that but to be honest I wasn't sure." Chris admitted with a nod of his head slightly, he sighed, and walked over to the processor, taking the front of his head out slightly. This was, by far, the most delicate of all procedures. One mistake and he could very well kill the drone. Sweat dripped down his face as he started working ont he Transformer version of a concusion. A lot of rewiring, 'gluing', and disecting before putting back together was done. But finally, Chris, satisfied took a depp breath and put down his tools. "I'm not sure if I did this tright, but I hope I did..." He murmured.

Ratchet inspected the wiring again, carefully testing the tensions in strategic areas. He nodded approvingly, checking off items on the checklist when he was done."Looks good." he glanced at the next drone, which was almost equally mangled, but had different areas which were damaged, mainly the optics, spark area, the hands, forearms and thighs. Noticing Chris was sweating, he asked: "Do you need a break? That one has a fair bit of maintenance as well."
