Jake sighed, he was in his bedroom, as he was most of the time. He didn't often come out of his bedroom, still slightly shy. He was trying to adjust, one could say, to the freedom of the base. Everything had happend so fast, he had been rescued by Autobots, treated kindly, and adopted all over the course of a few weeks. It still shocked him he had gotten such a great life so quickly...
In some ways, he wondered if it would last, or if he'd be taken back eventually. He sighed, but decided not to think on it too hard. What mattered was that he was there, and he had a kind mech taking care of him. He sighed, reading through the book on the edge of his bed while laying on his stomach. I wonder where Dad is today anyway...? He thought to himself.

The purple and gold Shelby Cobra known in the base as Chasm rolled through the doors, and transformed, walking towards his room. Need to sort through all the info, write the report, not that there should be much to report...Maybe I could get Jacob out of his room? He's in there so often, and I don't think that's healthy.... Letting out a small sigh, he decided to see if he could get Jacob out of his room first. Walking down the hall that had all of the techno-organics' bedrooms, he found Jacob's door, and knocked gently. "Jake? You in there?"

Jake looked up at the knock on his door, smiling a bit at hearing Chasm's voice. He got up from his bed calmly, and pulled on a black t-shirt calmly. "Yeah, I'm up Dad, one second." He replied, straightening his shirt a bit, and fixing his mop of brown hair. Jake didn't want Chasm to think he had been in his room all day again. So he simply compromised. He sighed, walking over to the door and opening. "What's up?" He said simply.

Chasm wasn't fooled by Jacob's attempt to make it look like he'd been out. "You've been in here almost all day. Come on out." Chasm didn't want to push him too much, as the memories of how the Decepticons had treated Jacob were still fresh, even though it had happened several weeks ago. They were as fresh as the ones from...No! Chasm thought to himself, pushing the memories back down. Don't think about it! He blinked, hoping that his thoughts weren't being broadcasted on his faceplate.

Jake smiled and nodded walking out the door of his room calmly. "Sorry, I was reading one of those mystery novels, and I sort of got hooked." He replied, not minding Chasm pushing him sometimes. It wasn't like he raised his voice to him, or even raised a hand. Chasm just wanted him to be able to interact with other people and he knew it. "Everything ok Dad?" He said, noticing Chasm's change in demeanor a bit.

Chasm nodded. "Yeah, just old memories. Ones that have been resurfacing a bit more....Walk with me? I've got some time before I need to submit my report. Not much to say anyways." He chuckled. "I'm sure that Optimus doesn't need to hear about how McDonald's had twice as many black, white, and grey cars in its parking lot during my recon than the Wendy's down the street had during the same amount of time. Guess Wendy's has a bit more of a colorful crowd."

Jake laughed a little at what Chasm said. He remembered the times he had gone on recon with Chasm, it had been more of the same towards what he had just said. It had been the first time he had had a McDonald's too. Needless to say, he now craved it on an almost daily basis. "Yeah, things have been slow lately, and I'm glad for that." Jake kept it to himself that he still feared his creator's finding him. He didn't want to worry Chasm any more then he already was. "It's nice when things are quiet like this." He put his hands in his pockets, walking alongside the mech calmly.

"I like it when it's quiet as well." Chasm replied. "Though, at the same time, it makes me nervous." He laughed slightly and rubbed the back of his helm. "I feel like Red Alert when its quiet..." Remembering that Jacob didn't know who Red Alert was, he continued. "Red Alert was our chief of security back on Cybertron. He was paranoid as the pit, and really easy to scare. It would be funny at first, but then having to deal with his lock down procedures was a pain." Chasm chuckled. "It was still worth it."

"Wow, I wonder how he'd react to techno-organics." Jake chuckled, he'd imagine he'd flip out by the way Chasm talked about him. Then when he found out what they were, calm down, hopefully. "Yeah, it sometimes makes me nervous too... When it was quiet on the 'con base it usually meant..." He fell quiet a bit, and decided not to continue. Of course, it would be nice to talk about it, it usually helped him vent. But that was what his therapist was for, Chasm didn't need to hear about it.

"He'd probably freak out a bit." Chasm replied. "There's nothing organic on Cybertron." He let out a small sigh. "You don't have to go any further. At least, when its quiet, we can have a good time." Chasm stopped, finding that they'd ended up by his room. An idea struck him. "Hey, Jake? Want to give painting a try?" Chasm had gotten a whole bunch of canvases, of all different sizes, and he always carried paint with him.

"Yeah, that's true... It's just hard to forget my time there..." Jake shook his head, looking up at Chasm "But at least I've got you now. And the theapy's really helping me." It was true, the combination of having a Dad who cared about, and seemed to love him as a son, and the therapy helped. It made him feel like he actually was somebody, and not some 'con experiment who wasn't even worthy enough to scrape the bottom of someone's foot. "Painting...? I've never tried that before, is it fun?"

Chasm grinned, opening the door to his room. "I find painting to be very fun! It's what I used to do for a living before I joined the Autobots. Not on canvases, though. I was what humans would call a 'tattoo artist.' Lots of fun, too." He walked over to where all the blank canvases were leaned against the wall, and pulled a few that were small enough for Jake out. "Here." He held them out in his hand.

"So what you used to do... Tatoos?" Jake questioned, trying his best to understand, looking up at him "So I guess I won't need parental permission if I ever decide to get a tatoo." He joked lightly, waiting a moment then taking the paint supplies from him. "So how exactly does this work?" He asked, clearly stumped.

Chasm chuckled. "In a way. It was done on alt modes.* He tapped the flames on his chest. "I did these to myself after I joined the Autobots." Reaching into subspace, he found some small brushes. "And the way it works is you paint something. My favorite things to paint are sunsets and sunrises, but you can paint whatever you want." He walked over to another part of the room, where used canvases were. All different scenes were depicted, though they had a single consistancy. In each and every painting, no matter how small, there was some form of fire.

"Wow those are sick. If I ever got a tatoo though, it'd be a dragon on my arm." Jake replied with a slight shrug of his shoulders. He took the paint brush calmly and looked at the canvas. "So Paint anything...?" He asked, trying to clarify, he was just trying to be sure he was getting the point of this correctly.
