The school bell rang loudly in Chris's ears, the seven year old sighed, setting down his pencil. He listened off and on to what his 2nd grade teacher was saying as he began packing up his backpack. As per usual, the small, short haired, spikey haired boy was the first one out of the classroom, nothing unusual for him.
As he stepped out of the school, he immediatly knew to look for his Father that day. He was there to pick him up every other day, other times, either Will or another Autobot would be there waiting for him. It was so his Father could get both some work done and spend time with Chris as well. It was not unlike the methods of a human Father in that respect.
His eyes shifted to the front of the school, seeing the red and blue peterbuilt that was his Father's alternate mode waiting. He walked over calmly, reaching him, he knocked gently on the passenger's side door on the off chance his Father had entered stasis while waiting. "Hey Dad." He added with a chipper voice.

Optimus waited in the parking lot, his large peterbilt truck sitting beside a truck on the left and a car on the right. The tractor trailer, minus the tractor made all the other vehicles look small, and he often caught the stares of people walking past. After all, how often did you see a vehicle such as this parked in a school parking lot? At an Elementary school? Not often, that's for sure.
The familar form of a child with short spiked hair walked over, and rapped his hand on the door. His holoform appearing, Optimus unlocked the door, and slid it open. "Hello, Chris. How was school?" The words came from the holoform, but the voice still held the robotic sounds of Optimus himself.
Optimus had something important to tell his son, but right here wasn't the right place. Too many people.

Chris backed up a little as the door opened, but calmly walked back up, climbing into Optimus's passengers seat. He gave his Father a bubbly seven year old hug, before settling into the seat. It was how he usually greeted his Father, after all, at a young age, hugs were often vital to him.
"It was good, we're learning fractions." Chris replied, then fidgeted, closing his Father's door he pulled his seatbelt on once he set his backpack on the floor of cab "I couldn't wait to get out though 'cause it's Friday." He smiled happily.
As much as Chris loved school at his age, he loved the weekends more. It meant he got to spend more time around NEST and didn't have homework. On top of this, he got more time with his Father on the weekends, something he loved.
He only partially noticed the odd stares Optimus got. Though his Father was a giant robot and he was what was considered a 'Test Tube' baby, he never really understood how truly different he was. Not yet anyway, for now, he was far too young to understand that not everyone was accepting of his exsistence. Something he'd likely understand later in life.

Optimus nodded as Chris told him how his day was. Well his holoform did. As Chris shut the door, the holoform acted as a driver, and drove the vehicle from its place in the school parking lot, allowing a bus to get in front of them. The bus turned the other way from which Optimus was headed, and he turned the way he had to go.
Then he spoke. "It seems as if the humans always enjoy Fridays. I also look forward to it." He started the long way back to NEST.

Chris nodded a bit hearing his Father, he leaned against the seat and played around with his thumbs a bit. "Yeah, well it means I get more time with you." He smiled brightly "I always like that." He added, bubbly as ever.
Chris noticed his Father wasn't going the usual way. He was very observant even though he was only seven. And therefore, being little kid, he felt the need to point this out to him. "Dad, why are we going another way?" He aksed, looking at his Father calmly.
He didn't really mind it if Optimus was taking the long way or something. He just wanted to know what was going on, if everything was ok in other words. He leaned against the door and looked around a bit before looking back over at Optimus.

Optimus's holoform smiled. "As do I, Chris." The leader had taken a long ride from NEST to come to Tranquility, and there was a very long drive to go from California to New Jersey. They were crossing the whole country.
Optimus knew he had a very observant kid, so it wasn't no surprise the minute Chris picked up on the different way they were going. "We're heading to NEST." There was a pause, and the leader spoke again. "Chris, it's time you've learned. Have you ever heard of a Decepticon before?"

Chris leaned against his Father's seats again, but very intently listened when Optimus spoke. Of course he had heard of the Decepticons. Mostly from bedtime stories, and from small talk around the base however."Of course, from your bedtime stories." He said naiively "Uncle Will talks about them sometimes too." He added.
Admittedly, Chris was too young to realize that the Decepticons wer real entities. He had only been just born... Well... Created when the Decepticons were still even the slightest bit at large. He wass too young to even remember them. "Why?" He asked.
He could see a hint of tenseness in Optimus, but he didn't comment. First of all, he didn't know the word for it, and secondly, his Father seemed to be trying to be serious. Whenever Optimus was being serious, he always listened to what he had to say without overly talking.
