Ratchet shook his head. "That's good. The only thing worth sharing other than going to the Middle East and staying much longer than I'd prefer is that...you see, Chris has expressed genuine interest in training to be a medic, so I've taken him under my wing as an intern. Doesn't mean you still can't help out or get a good scholarship. I have the power to do whatever I want in terms of the medical field. Just don't think that you want to help because of me. If you have other interests, I understand."he explained, voice showing a bit of emphasis towards the end.
[wow I almost forgot about this...finally had something worth replying with .__.]

[ xD yeah finally lol, thanks Jetta Chan! ]
Oh yeah.. Scholarship.. Maybe it was better to tell him about that rather than find out from the school that she hadn't been showing up to well.. Anything. When she heard about Chris, she didn't seem to care much until realizing how much he just might want to harass her about her repair skills which made her mentally cringe slightly, adopting Ratchet's stink eye at that idea before shaking it off and letting it go away. "Naw Dad, don't mind at all. Maybe we can work together some time, if he's not a total ass and tells me I have no idea what I'm doing!" again, she just barely breathed the last part so not to make her Dad think she hated that idea beyond belief. Though, half of her thought it might be fun. Maybe he'd learn to show her a bit of respect, and in return gain some. Now was a good time to just slip in the whole school thing.... "I uh.. actually." She began, rubbing the back of her neck not sure how she would say this.
Looking over her at her pup for any ideas, though only getting a blank expression as he panted happily and stared at the light above them. Aha! She'd say it super super super fats and then change the subject! "I've decided to quit high school because this is really all I want as my career, well actually still deciding on whether or not to. Would I really need high school or college for this to begin with? I wanted to be a bomb technician too but I'm already pretty good at that so you know why bother? Hey, you seem different. Did you get a new paint job?" She was glad she stopped herself before she said hair cut, it would have been much to obvious.

Ratchet was quick to detecting the change in subject-it wasn't like he hadn't heard it before and was not going to put this discussion off."Please, now is not the time to change the subject. You need to go to school, Danny. I know it seems inevitable that you might live on base for the rest of your life, but we expect you to be fairly well educated, even if it's homeschooling. Public school is best because the standards and criteria are the same no matter who you are. I don't care if you don't go to college, but almost all jobs require someone has at least a highschool diploma. It's for your own benefit that you finish so you don't sit around the base with a low paying job and little to look forawrd to in life. Chris is almost finished with high shcool. It's also easy to predict that if you share the same career field as him-people are going to pick him first because he has a diploma and took the time to do extra activities, etc. Yes they can prove your my daughter, but it will not replace a GED and get you very far with out some kind of education.
The map is already laid out in front of you-finish high school. Ifyou want to learn more about the medical field or use your skills here at base, great. Depending on what position you take on here, they will be more tempted to pick you if on top of the GED if you have a college degree of some kind too, even if it's just one in science. You may know a lot about bombs already, but did you know you have to have at least a year's police experience. I also hope you don't have a problem with working in confined spaces."Ratchet paused, scratching his chin."That may only be minimum experience, but most police have to have at least a high shcool diploma and go through their own training. I do not believe we would expect that of you here if you work with in NEST, but we would have to make sure you had broad knowledge on all sorts of technology and explosive known to man and autobot out there. You techno organics may be smart, but that will take a considerable amount of shcooling and possibly require an internship in the future."he squinted slightly, still looking down at her."Besides, I'd rather not see you go through life just being someone's assistant because you're too unmotivated to aim for something you'd rather have in the long run. If you want a medical career, I'm going to insist you go to college, there are some superb programs out there that would be perfect for you, whether or not you decide to be an apprentice of mine as Chris is now. Understood?"
[hows that speed talk for ya Danny? xD]

[ Danny: xD you should see iro's face! | Me: +_x -in some weird other mental dimension- ]
Crossing her arms in a snug fashion she locked one knee to lean on, somewhat to the side while letting her left one just sit there to use the other as support. Danielle should have realized that changing the subject would have been to obvious, though she wondered if subconsciously she had wanted to him to hear, maybe to help her figure this out if it was really the right thing to do right now. But before she knew it, she discovered he was lecturing her. She didn't seem to take it in a bad way though, he was lecturing very lightly right now and keeping it very thin it seemed. In other words, she understood and managed to lighten up her mood with her.
Yeah... College on the medical field too, that could really help... Her dad was always right, no matter how much she hated school she was going to go anyways, but willingly. She knew there was no one really willing to force her besides just telling her to, if she wanted to do this she would have to find some sort of motivation. Looking back up at Ratchet once he went to the finish of most of this, her arms uncrossed and fell to her sides, along with switching to the left leg to lean on and letting the right lull there. "I understand.. I just gave up, but I'm sure I can make up whatever I've missed." Either that or the teachers would excuse it, not wanting to find dynamite in their desks or something. Of course she wouldn't do that though, if she ever used something explosive at school it was only fire crackers, or something to blow open a locker. But that only happened once for any of that, and well.. It was to blow open a locker, this girl didn't screw around. Mainly she stopped caring about a lot of things, mainly because her Dad wasn't around though she didn't see it as that. Growing lonely she had started ditching school from hating to be around so many strangers with no one to look forward to seeing when she went home. She didn't blame Ratchet though, it wasn't his fault after all. She wasn't changing the subject now, but rather curious. "When do you think I'll get my more robotic form?"
By now, straight for the office Ambosine went in search of something to chew, unnoticed by Danielle at the moment.

Ratchet leaned back on his heels a bit and shrugged slightly."Depends on the person, Chris may be nearing his time, but it is uncertain, as far as I know there is no real way to check. My guess is that you'll be able to transform after you've reached or are about to reach adulthood."Ratchet was one of the few that really knew how it worked, and as far as he knew, the first few transformations were often quite hard on the body, as human bodies were such small vessels compared to theirs..."It could be a year or two before you gain that ability, even with your abilities fairly well developed."

About to reach adulthood or reach it? Wow that sucked big time. That could be when she's eighteen, or even twenty. What if she didn't get her robotic form? That really would suck, severely actually. She'd be the one left to just fire from the ground, no fist action, no real anything. She watched him lean back on his heels, pulling up her arms into the usual crossed form. Her body language seemed different from others, this was just to make herself comfortable, not because she had an attitude. If she was mad, oh boy you would be able to tell...
The second response however gave an unwanted ( though light ) surprise to her face. "Two years?!" At least it wasn't five, but seriously... Now her arms were crossed in a more firm body language, as if saying 'aw man'. It went away though, she really wanted to be able to do that. Then instead of KARR being able to pick her up, she could just punch and kick the living crap out of him for pay back on KITT. Pausing for a moment, she caught the sound of ripping paper, now puzzled instead of showing despair. "What's that?"
Ambosine had indeed found something, top secret files in Ratchet's bottom open filing cabinet drawer yaaaay! Dead puppy!

Ratchet shrugged slightly, not having much else to say on the matter, when he was distracted by the sound of munching...on something light and crunchy. Sadly, it was directed from his office. He sighed, and walked towards it, activating his holoform, locating the mischevious, apparently hungry puppy. "Well slag, looks like I have to start putting locks on everything in this office!"he complained as his holoform gently tried to pick up Ambosine with out frightening him too much."Bad puppy. Yes about too years-the amount is variable, as I said..."he growled-at only Ambosine of course.

Danielle looked over towards her father's office at the same time as he did. Right now, praying rats got in and that wasn't the puppy chewing up very important documents or anything wooden... Sadly, she knew that it would be Ambosine. Zipping after her father as he activated his holoform, the blurred line she left seemed to stop into her solid appearance right next to Holo-Ratchet. "Eheh... I guess he's hungry, again.. Already..."
It was not that this little husky was hungry, but that it was just bored. And when a bored, teething, mischievous little puppy gets.. Well... Bored, they tear things up. Growling playfully and shaking his head as he made more confetti from files on plans. He stopped however with a few confused blinks when Ratchet's holoform scooped him up. He didn't even flinch, but rather let go of the papers and wagged his tail, ignoring the bad puppy and licking the holoform's chin.
Danny couldn't help but laugh of course, only a bit though and keeping it at just a chuckling level. "Well at least we know he likes you." She also happened to notice the small pup wasn't even paying attention to Ratchet's really big robotic form, but that was probably for the better. "Eh.." Then she saw the slightly mess Ambosine made, though luckily it wasn't much. Just torn up papers scattered across the floor in some places.

Ratchet's hazel holoform eyes blinked in slight surprise when Ambosine licked him, leaning back in case he tried again. For a while he didn't really understand what humans saw in having pets, but after watching them on the streets after a while or at random parks during what little free time he had, and seeing Ambosine, he began to understand why. For one, they were cute, and two, if you took care of them well, they'd love you to the end of time. Ambosine seemed pretty happy here, despite that he just got scolded. He smiled a bit before turning serious again."Yeah. Well he will as long as he doesn't constantly ruin my office and...CLASSIFIED papers."he lightly tapped Ambosine on the nose before setting him down-lightly enough that it wouldn't hurt, just surprise him."Oh well. He's young and needs to sharpen his teeth...there are just too many places in this building he should stay away from."he shook his head a bit, stepping away slightly.

Danny gave her innocent smile with the shrug and an uneasy snicker like she usually did when she was in trouble, though doing so for Ambosine's and her sake this time. "Puppies heh, what're you gonna do?" It dropped though right afterward, looking back over at the pup before looking back at her Dad. "Don't worry, he just needs training, it can't be that hard. He's going to help me with medical stuff too!"
The husky puppy didn't seem to take being tapped over the nose as great. Didn't hurt nor surprise him, but did seem to make him understand it was negative so that his ears pulled back slightly along with a droopy tail as he gave Ratchet that look most little kids gave when they were in trouble. After being released though, he ran right back over to try and make a run for it.
Yeah that was true, what if he decided to chew up Optimus's paper work? She couldn't help but shudder at the thought of him pulling out a cannon and making scrambled Ambosine. She was sure he wouldn't actually blast the puppy... Kind of sure.. Maybe.. But he wouldn't be to happy and Ambosine being her dog, she would get the real heat. "Don't worry Dad, he just needs some training." She didn't even have to look to catch him and scoop him back up. He didn't seem happy about being picked up while he wanted to go explore, but she knew there was bond to be an Autobot that wouldn't take so kindly to being chewed on. She couldn't help but chuckle at a new thought, remembering the story of how Sam's dog peed on Ironhide's foot. "Hey, maybe we should go introduce him to Ironhide."

Ratchet couldn't help but stifle a chuckle. "After what could have happened to Sam's dog, I'm not so sure that's a good idea-at least, until after he's trained."As far as he knew, dogs were all the same to Ironhide, and that wouldn't help the situation. He watched Ambosine start running off. "I'm keeping this office locked every time I'm outside of it now."he shook his head a bit.
"Anyway, any more questions for me?"he asked, the holo-form looking over at her.

[ Yeah i guess you're right, and since this is a thread in the past compared to the one where she's in trouble with blitzwing i guess i can lead up to that one now ]
Danielle also watched Ambosine run off, but knew he was probably going to go retreat someone for sleep. She watched him run out of sight before turning back to her Dad's holoform. "No thanks, I think I'm just going to go for a quick walk and then hit the hay." It wouldn't be a quick walk, she was going to go to the park like she usually did to think about things.
Though she didn't wait for much of a response, already starting to walk away before muttering under her breath, "It's good to have you back Dad..." Honestly, it felt good being able to say that.

Ratchet still felt somewhat bad for leaving with out warning, but it wasn't entirely his fault that his duty was so demanding. He knew she understood now, and hoped it wouldn't be too much of a problem. But there was always those other possibilities of any number of things getting in the way. He nodded curtly, smiling again as his bot form turned to the desk, adjusting the filing compartments that Ambosine had been near earlier, throwing away some of the shreds. "Thanks for the welcome, Danny."he just planned on staying in the room, tidying up his office. "Be safe, see you later."
[and i think we'll call it good.*shrugs*]
