History: Serena had always enjoyed the company of her parents, Tanya and Jack. The three had always been a tight family, and became tighter as another family member seemed to come with them. Serena had a little brother, Zach. The two were never the best of friends, but they weren't the worst of enemies either. They both grew up and went to the same school, and both showed an interest for warfare. But one day, Zach was murdered, killed by some stranger.
Serena hadn't been the same again. She had of course witnessed the death, seen the pain cross Zach's face as the bullet pierced his skin, lodging in his chest, taking that last breath away from him. That ragged, hoarse breath. He died in her hands that day, a few mere minutes later. How that had changed her world.
From that point on, she wanted to be with the army. It had been their dreams, and she knew her brother would want her to live life where their dreams could live on. Zach had visited her in her dream that night, telling her to join a group called NEST when she was older. He told her to join the army. His last wish, his good bye.
So, as Zach had wanted, she joined the army, and was sent to Iraq. That first time killing someone. It brought her childhood memory back. The anguished look on his face, the blank expression in his eyes, those blue eyes. So much like her brother's. Zach's last wish. Join the army.
