Chris sighed, he was extremely bored at the moment. He had stopped into a Sock Hop in Tranquility, because... Well quite simply he needed to get off the base for a while. The Bodyguard thing had just been instituted and therefor Sideswipe was outside though driving around to give him some space. He hated this, he felt like he was being treated like a little kid. I forgot how overprotective Dad can be sometimes... He thought to himself silently. Taking his chocolate malt and seating himself in a booth.

"Shit!" Leah said as the contents of her bag dropped to the floor. Sighing, she gets up from her seat and picks them up one by one. Blood rushed to her cheeks though, she could feel the different pairs of eyes that had been attracted by the thud of the notebooks. Her head was down, avoiding the curious gaze from the spectators. Taking a deep breath, she sits back down.
Her objective of being in this place at all was to finish up some reading and maybe a couple of assignments for her online classes. Odd, that an eatery could be a place for quiet. Usually it'd be at her house with the serenity of her room. Of course, this was her only choice at the moment. Her mother was having some issues, preferring her to get out of the house and 'socialize'. In a place like Tranquility, she really rather not. She wanted to break free out of this place and travel. To experience life, rather than just living it. Sighing once again, she starts to look over her notes. Studying her way out of here was the only option.

Chris looked up as he heard things fall and scatter. It was only after he saw the books and notebooks that he realized there was only a few weeks until school started. The same school he was probably not going to be allowed to attend this year due to all the chaos. Noticing the girl had missed one of the books she dropped, he stood up and picked it up, heading to the booth the girl was at. "Hey, you missed one." He commented, holding it out to her, he stared at the girl a moment "Leah Gerard?" He questioned with a raised eyebrow.

Leah's lips were pursed. The question at hand was challenging. To justify the United States' role in the Spanish-American War was quite difficult. Her gray eyes focused on rereading the textbook at hand, over again.
Suddenly, a voice burst into her thoughts. "Huh?" she says as she looks up to see the boy with her book. "Oh. Thanks." her eyes immediately went to the book. She was never really good with interactions, especially with the opposite gender. At the sound of her name, she looks at him again. "Um, yes?" her facial expression was quizzical. Who was this guy? He didn't really seem much familiar, but he seems to know her name. "Do I know you?" she finally asked.

"It's Chris Stratos... You know, we used to be neighbors in Oregon." Chris tried to make her remember, though they had been toddlers at the time, and she may not have "Well, I guess it's Chris Prime now... Since I moved back in with my Dad." He hoped she wouldn't make any kind of connection with Optimus Prime. The last thing he wanted to do was play a game of twenty-thousand questions. "Though I'll understand if you don't remember me, it's been a while."

"Chris Stratos," Leah murmurs. Chris Stratos; Oregon? The multiple possibilities of where she had heard the name before came all at once. Of course, Chris was a very common name, but did she really know anyone with that name in Oregon? Or maybe even a friend of her cousin's? She looks him over again. He was well built with a shaggy mane. The shaggy mane!
Her mouth went into the shape of an 'O'. "Chris, the boy that used to color with me?" she asks. She remembers him now, they had met because his aunt always used to baby sit her. She smiles, Oregon was always a happy location for her. The state held her most care free days. "Wow, It's been so long." she comments. "Umm...Do you want to sit?" she offers, clearing a bit of the space.

"Yeah, that would be me." Chris commented, then nodded a bit and held up a finger, grabbing his malt, he walked back and took a seat "It has to have been... 12 years now... Going on 13, right?" He tried to remember if he was older then Leah or they were the same age "How have you been?" He questioned calmly.

Leah grinned a little bit before replying, "Alright, I guess." The boy who sat next to her was stranger and didn't feel like someone she knew back in her coloring-book years. She has no idea what to say to him. "Uh, so how's your milkshake?" God, she sounded stupid. What was she thinking inviting him to sit next to her. They haven't talked for a decade now. "I meant what's up? what are you doing here?" She turned to her book to hide the fact that she might be blushing because of her social ineptness. Were they even friends? Ugh, she sounds so awkward, must be the town doing this to her.

"Well we moved here a few months after my Dad... Umm... Left us with our Aunt and Uncle." Chris began to explain, leaving out details for the sake of shortening the story "But they passed away this past year... So my Dad came back, so I'm living with him again." He left out the minor detail of how he technically lived in New Jeresy so she wouldn't question why "What about you?"

It was wrong but Leah couldn't help but think that Chris told her too much when she just asked how's he doing. Unlike her companion, she's not keen into opening up to old childhood buddies especially the ones that she totally forgot knowing. But carpe diem, Chris seems nice and well her mother wants her to familiar herself with people her age. "Oh, I lived here since I was eight. Uh- well yeah not much into it. I am a junior, I'm not sure if we go to the same school. I've never seen you at all before."

"Nice, I should be a Senior.. But Dad's, kind of thinking of homeschooling me." Chris had to admit that was the understatement of the year. More like trying to confine him to the base for something that may have been just a damn bluff. "I mean I'd still be a Senior, but just not one at Tranquility High." He explained.

"Oh so, you're an upperclassman." Leah said, only processing his whole statement moments later. She shakes her head, "Um, I mean, that is, if you were to still go." She looks around, avoiding his eyes. This situation was sufficiently awkward. Nothing that she could remember would make for good conversation. Of course, everything that does come out of her mouth always sound so stupid. She groans inwardly, hoping that she did not sound as much as a dork as she really is. Looking through out the place, she realizes how empty it seemed. The silence echoed every small sound.

"Yeah hopefully I'll get to go." Chris commented, shaking his head "My Dad's kind of in the Millitary. And he doesn't want me to constantly have to change schools." He explained, though it was a lie, it was at least a well-said one. After all, his Dad was technically in the Millitary. Just not in the human millitary. "In that respect I kind of see where he's coming from."

Leah nods, comprehending his deep desire to live his final year with his peers. In retrospect, she really didn't want to see any of her peers. In her eyes, they were cruel and thought too highly of themselves. They want to be perceived as these mature beings, when in all reality they were truly naive and selfish people. Shaking her head to her cynicism, she put on a small smile. "So, um, other than that, how's your summer?" she asks.

"It's actually been really nice. I got accepted to Caltech on a full scholarship." Chris said this with some pride in his voice. He had worked very hard to get said-scholarship. "And I finally got together with this girl I liked since I was little." He smiled a bit, zoning as he thought of Monica. How he had gotten so lucky to get a girl as amazing as Monica was he did not know. "And I was also lucky enough to reconnect with some of my Dad's side of the family."
He then stopped talking, noticing they had talked all about him and very little about Leah. "And how about you, how's your summer been?" He questioned.
